In the 1960s, The Beatles brought Pop Rock to the fore, and in doing so challenged some notions of what tough edges might be allowed throughout the basic assemble of pop. Psychedelic Rock’s and Acid Rock’s major focuses have been on political points and freedom of expression, most notably the increased use of marijuana and LSD amongst the musicians and their viewers. San Francisco was where a lot of the counterculture scene was going down, within the Haight-Ashbury district. Famous musicians of this genre include, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, and Jimi Hendrix.
